Japan had stereo broadcast earlier than the USA, as I remember and the ACR's at MTV were all modified with kits which were sourced from ToAmco ( this was the joint venture with Toshiba). point out that you are a decade off in your comment about digital. The AVR
was a ‘69 design, not ‘79. As to the audio track format, I understood it
was simply to maintain compatibility with standard quads.</div>

track? That would have been higher quality and as for the edit issues with FM
audio, this was air playback only. And I think you could even squeeze in 14bit
digital audio in the lower RF spectrum below 3mhz but perhaps not in
1979.</span></div>
