<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=navy face=Arial><span style='font-size:

frustrating day for me. I went over there on my lunch hour intending to
tear into the machine with tou ttems given below, as well as a few more that
Chris Hill gave me over the phone.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=navy face=Arial><span style='font-size:

itself several times. I didn’t think much of it, as this happens
periodically.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=navy face=Arial><span style='font-size:
10.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:navy'>So I prep the tape (it had been baking for
three days), and went to take the other tape off. Hit the Thread button,
and NOTHING. The headwheel wasn’t turning at all! All the
fuses on the HW PA cards were good and none of the “Fuse open”
lights were on. I put the card on an extender, and found the +80 v rails
were ok. The triangular signal was there, but none of the others
were. I then went to the “Control B” card and found that the “HW
Run” output was running and responding. So the problem is between
the Control B board and the HW PA’s. I made a quick call to Chris
Hill, who confirmed that I was on the right track. I then called my
friend who has also worked on these, and he said to look at the rest of the
power rails. Well, the -12V is at 10.4V on the card, but at -12.0 at the
supply. I cranked it up to 11.4V on the card, but it’s at 12.8V.
And that’s as high as I dare go with it. My friend suggested that I
reseat the molex connectors, as he has found them to be particularly
troublesome. I did so, and found some iffy ones; but alas, no improvement.
In the midst of all this, the circuit breaker blew several times. By this
time, I am out of lunch hour; so I had to leave. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

C18 card, which in spite of my best efforts apparently still had issues
(see below). <u1:p></u1:p></span></font><o:p></o:p></li>

known to be good after my friend found that my C18 card didnbt work in his
machine. After the new card, the VTC tape would lock up a little
earlier in the program. So that was progress. J But
still no lock on Old Reliable Fuji tape. Also, Ibve had to abandon
the VTC tape, as it was clogging up the heads a lot; even after baking
it. Donbt want any more trouble than I have already! ;) <u1:p></u1:p></span></font><o:p></o:p></li>

servo alignment section of the manual (ecept for the record functions,
since this machinebs record doesnbt work), and found it needed some minor
adjustments. However, nothing major. I did find that the Color
Framer card was missing and in itbs place was the Guide PA card!!
However, Ibm told that the Color Framer is only used for editing and is
not necessary for playback. The Guide PA card works just fine in its
proper place. But it didnbt solve the problem. And I should
note that since apparently these two cards have been out of place for some
time, that the machine would have been working fine with them out of
place. If this makes senseb&.</span></font> <o:p></o:p></li>
