Hi Gary:

The Riker sync gen we had was not in the modular form of the other Riker
gear. It was a one rack unit high chassis with a single horizontal circuit
board, but I seem to recall that the circuit was the same design as the modular
frames. The color standard was another single rack unit so the two of them
together took up 2 rack spaces. Wasn't that the same height as the module
frames? I guess maybe the advantage would have been a smaller unit if you
didn't need color, but it was much more difficult to service than the module
frame design.

OT reply about the Sync Generator. We had a couple of them running our
facility as well. Backup were Grass Valley proc amps. I finally
got the two Grass valley sync gens to run reliably so I removed the
Riker. Here are two photos from my bedroom where I rented in the 70s
while working at KOLN-TV. One a close up but not great. I felt the
wider shot would be of interest as well for the equipment geeks among us, so
there you are. Gary
