that's a XV is the one mounted on the machine. The others are a
Mk-X. As I said, there's a definitive way to identify the Mk-X and the
Mk-XV. Hint.......anytime you can see either the top or the bottom of the
baseplate, you can tell whether it's a X or a XV.</DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=3>The guide servo was an option on the VR-1200, although
I've not seen one without it except in catalog pictures. The 1200E
does not include a control on the operator panel, so I assume it was not
offered and certainly wasn't needed for recording. I suppose a studio
machine used only for recording would have no need for one either, so maybe
some 1200's were sold in that configuration.</FONT></DIV>
