other SP rebuilds that I have seen also have a label on the head motor cover
which this one does not. Seems odd that it would not have a prominent
label on the front which makes me wonder if the preamp has been swapped
out.</DIV>

paint on the motor cover is worn off beside the drum...definitely not freshly

it out with the transistor version. </DIV>
