detailed comparrison, but one simple thing that I liked about the RCA head was 

that all 3 of the mounting screws were captive and exposed.  Made for 

easier removal and installation.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=3>As for design, didn't RCA have air-bearings 

first?  Ampex had rotary transformers first.</FONT></DIV>
