<DIV>Auto tracking in an AVR 2 puts a little oscillation in the tracking so
that it can find the peak of RF. It is a very slow and small amount.
I never found it to really work that great. There really is not that much
of a need for it unless the operator does not know how to turn the tracking
knob. So you will probably find that manual tracking is the easier mode to
use.</DIV>

<DIV>Suggestion for the banding is to check the DG controls. This will
reduce the residual banding to almost zero if the tape is close to being
recorded correctly.</DIV>

<DIV>The way we found to do it is to put the scope in 2 V and then use the
chroma or DG mode. If you note on an EE signal there is a line that is
where the yellow and blue bars chroma matches. The DG controls are set in
playback to get a single line here. It does wonders and will give several
more generations quality.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Set the chroma level to the same as peak white in the 2 V mode and recheck
DG if you had to do a big adjustment.</DIV>
