WHCT's unusual history caused Kyle to document the station's five decade existence on kylebookholz.com The website itself is not directly accessible, but it has been preserved via the archive.org way back machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20161007142717/http://kylebookholz.com/ We learned of his apparent passing through posts made by friends to his Facebook page, www.facebook.com/kyle.bookholz. According to his Facebook page, he was born August 15, 1963. He lived in Floral Park, New York, and Rose senior programmer for an insurance company. He had worked in the programming field for a number of years after leaving broadcasting. He attended Emerson College, In Boston Massachusetts, graduating in 1985 and was apparently involved in the college radio station. Friends posting on Facebook indicated he had been battling cancer for between a year and two years and passed away today. That means it was taped at Channel 4 which was WWJ at the time and now WDIV or Channel 2 which is WJBK. Or possibly using The remote truck from WJBK. If done at the Canadian station CKLW, now CBET channel 9 they also had GE cameras. I do not recognize the name Bud Wilkenson as a personality form one of these stations. The other stations had TK 42 and 43 cameras. The PBS station got Visual VP-3 cameras later. Chris Hill In a message dated 5/19/2017 2:48:18 A.M. Quite a few tell-tale signs. One thing I thought was interesting was how the cameras looked. Kind of a pastel color like a TK-41. I think I see the silhouette of a TK-42 camera in the shadows. Don?t know if I?ve really looked at TK-42 footage this closely. Detail from a image orthicon would explain why this is sharp with a soft color overlay I suppose. Doesn?t look like a Plumbicon camera anyway. I have a friend here in Southwest Florida who was probably in his late teens / early twenties, in Detroit when this was taped. Who knows, he may have been running one of the cameras. :) Scott Thomas ______________________________________________ Please trim posts to relevant info when replying. I saw that lens sticking out from the camera body and thought, RCA. So, the PE-250 was a 4 tube camera design right? What quads did WWJ have? In the course of discussing something with a customer this week, the conversation took a bit different turn when they mentioned they had a collection of ACR 25 cartridges containing station interstitials, commercials, and other short items they would ultimately like to archive as digital files. I think the number mentioned was 200. Which would make finding a working ACR 25 a more practical way of digitizing these items. Does anyone on the list have a working impacts ACR-25 quad cartridge machine? You can let me know on or off list! I was product manager of the ACR-25 for about 4 months in 1976. I will check if any are still running in OZ. ?
